“Black Arm”. H 32 x W 46. acrylic on paper
The work has a figurative source, there will generally be a figure or suggestion of a figure within an environment. There is a search within the making of the painting, the destination is unknown but the impetus is the need to make some sense or to better understand the vicissitudes of life.
Somewhere within this searching process of mark making and the application of pigment is an image which will assert itself. The image is illusive. Sometimes images appear early and remain relevant, sometimes layering goes on for many sessions before a satisfactory outcome is reached.
