My work is mainly in acrylics, sometimes on canvas, usually on paper, which can better withstand both the rough application of paint and that of a range of mark making tools.
Somewhere within the searching process of mark making and the application of pigment is an image which will assert itself. The image is illusive. Sometimes images appear early and remain relevant, sometimes layering goes on for many sessions before a satisfactory outcome is reached.
Susan Mulley is an artist living in London. She originally studied painting at Goldsmiths' College. In 1982, she returned for a postgraduate course in Ceramics and then travelled to America to study for her Masters Degree at Louisiana State University.
